What hours are you available?

Our business hours are 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday, but we are available 24/7 for emergencies.

Can you provide a free quote?

Yes, we are happy to provide free quotes.

Can you clear my blocked pipes?

Yes!  We use one of 3 tools for clearing blocked pipes. 

1. A high pressure water jetter.

2. An electric eel machine.

3. A small electrical eel machine for kitchen size waste pipes (50mm).

Can you replace pipes?

Yes we can!  First of all we use a camera to locate and diagnose the blockage.  Then if we can’t clear it, we excavate to remove the old earthenware pipes and replace them with DWV PVC sewer pipes.

What are the early signs of a pipe or drain blockage?

You can often hear a gurgling sound from toilets or floor wastes, or you may notice sewer surcharges from the overflow gullies on the outside of the property, you may also notice bad odours.  These can all be signs of an imminent blockage.  You are best to contact us when you notice these early signs so that we can clear the blockage before it becomes urgent.

Do you do roof leak repairs?

Yes – I am a licensed and approved roofing plumber. If you notice water stains on the ceiling, or drips from the ceiling or down the walls, you may have a roof leak.  We access the roof and diagnose the cause and location of the leak.  We then carry out the repairs on that section of the roof.

Do you replace hot water heaters?

Yes!  We can advise you on the best replacement options from a great range of hot water heaters, then we can remove the old and install the new.

Do hot water heaters need inspections?

Common areas of buildings that house hot water heaters must be inspected every 6 months.

Ivy Street Plumbing carries out these inspections in various Strata and Commercial Buildings throughout Sydney CBD, Eastern Suburbs and North Shore.

Do backflow valves need to be tested?

According to Sydney Water regulations, every building with a Backflow Prevention Valve must have that valve tested annually.

Ivy Street Plumbing is certified to carry out this testing and we provide this service to many Strata and Commercial Buildings throughout Sydney CBD, Eastern Suburbs and North Shore.

Do you need an annual roof maintenance inspection on your strata or commercial building?

If you manage a commercial or strata building, you need to have the roof area inspected annually. We inspect both flat roofing areas, as well as pitched roof areas with gutters and downpipes.

Carrying out this annual inspection will ensure you find any maintenance issues before they become major headaches.

How to ensure the plumbing at your strata property is well maintained

  • Periodical clearing of sewer and storm water pipes with high pressure water jetter
  • 6 monthly inspections of common area hot water heaters
  • Annual roof maintenance inspections – flat roofing area or pitched roof with gutters – clearing gutters and down pipes
  • Backflow prevention testing – every building with a backflow prevention valve must be tested annually according to Sydney Water (we are certified)
